The medieval scaffolding and Foulque Nerra’s Tower

Behind the tower dating from the year 1000, the construction of a medieval scaffolding, faithfully reproduced, will henceforth restore life to the construction site of one of France’s oldest keeps and offer a new view on the 15th century castle.

The playgrounds and tree-house offer a moment of relaxation for families. Visitors will also benefit from an unobstructed and magnificent view of the Loire Valley thanks to the gazebo.

Exhibition “Fashion in the Middle Ages”
A thousand years of fashion to discover for the first time in the castle’s garrets. Purses, Merovingian jewelry, shoes and costumes serve as witness to the evolution of ways of dressing and appearing during the Middle Ages.

The exhibition catalogue is available in the castle’s boutique at the price of 18.90 euros, including tax. Delivery cost within France: 2.90 euros including tax.

Three rooms restored and refurnished:

The Hall of the Worthies
At the close of a major restoration campaign, the seven tapestries called “The Worthies” (a cycle unique in France) are once again the pride of the castle and benefit from scenography and lighting that befits them.

The Sacred Arts Room
The works of sacred art, previously spread throughout the castle’s rooms, are assembled in one sole room: thanks to an intentionally understated museography, their presentation gains in coherence and visibility.

The Faïences Room
The Faïences Room opened its doors in August 2006. In a specially-dedicated room, visitors can admire numerous works of the production that brought fame to Langeais in the 19th century.
